Govind Deo Ji Jaipur
Govind Deo Ji temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. Situated in the City Palace complex, this temple is a reminder of the royal past of Jaipur. A trip to Jaipur can never be complete without visiting this beautiful temple. Devotees as well as tourists throng this temple for a 'darshan'.
The belief in Jaipur is that the idol enshrined at this temple was brought from Vrindavan by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, after Govind Dev Ji appeared to him in a dream and asked to be brought to Jaipur. Govind Dev Ji is the deity of the Kachawaha family of Rajputs. This temple was built in 1890.
Arti and Bhog are performed seven times each day and the idols of the deities are also dressed up seven times. An excellent time to visit this temple and observe the various rituals as well as bonhomie and festivities is at the time of Janmastami, the birthday of Lord Krishna.
