Fateh Prakash Palace Udaipur
Fateh Prakash is a lakeside palace in Udaipur and is situated besides Lake Pichola. A magnificent property both inside and outside, it has corridors and rooms decorated with paintings of the Mewar school and there is even a Crystal Gallery. Maharaja Fateh singh was its famous resident, after whom the palace is named. Now, Fateh Prakash Palace is a heritage hotel managed by the HRH Group. The lifestyle of the royals is now available to the visitors in a 5 Star setting with all modern amenities.
For a visitor coming here for sightseeing, the attractions include the Crystal Gallery. It has a matchless display of crystals that were purchased by Maharana Sajjan Singh from F & C Osler of England for his personal use. However, he never saw his amazing collection due to his premature death. An intricate jewel studded carpet is among the most stunning exhibits. Other attractions include crystal studded tables, sofa sets, dining table, dressers, fountains, beds, washing bowls, decanters and perfume bottles.
The Durbar Hall of Fateh Prakash Palace is among the most grand of all in Udaipur and even among the various Durbar Halls across other palaces in India. A very large room for holding state banquets formal and informal meetings, its most eye catching feature is its chandelier. It also has portraits of the Maharajas and their weapons on display. The hall is surrounded by several viewing galleries that were meant for the ladies of the palace.
