Rajasthan Language
 Rajasthan is bounded by an international border that it shares with Pakistan on one side and the domestic borders that it shares with the states of Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Its early inhabitants were various tribes and the state has also been ruled by and thus influenced by the Mughal and the British.
All these factors impact the language of any place. In Rajasthan, the local language of Rajasthani has four major dialects, i.e. Marwari in the western region, Jaipuri in the east part of the state, Malwi in the southeast areas and Mewati in the northeast. Now, however, Hindi is the official language of the state and it is gradually replacing Rajasthani in the common man's speech. As Rajasthan is a tourism based economy, most people are able to speak and comprehend English, even at the village level. Besides this, the tour operators have staff fluent in nearly all major languages of the world. |
