Sajjan Niwas Garden

Sajjan Niwas Garden, also called the Rose Garden of Udaipur or Gulab Bagh, is the largest garden of Rajasthan, sprawled over 100 acres of land. Maharana Sajjan Singh had it built during the fifth decade of the 18th century.

Sajjan Niwas Bagh is celebrated for its numerous varieties of roses. It is conveniently located on the banks of Pichola Lake at Lake Palace Road. The unique arrangement of rose beds at this garden is its highlight. Sajjan Niwas Garden is a great place for nature lovers to visit. It also has a small zoo housing chinkara, leopards, tigers and birds that are popular with the children visitors.

It is also an excellent for book lovers. It has a library that was constructed by Maharana Fateh Singh. Known as Saraswati Bhawan Library, it houses books related to history, archaeology, Indology and several manuscripts from the early medieval period. Gulab Bagh also has a museum, originally called Victoria Hall Museum. It has a good collection of antiques, curios and royal household items.
