Nahargarh means the Abode of Tigers, hence this fort is also known as the Tiger Fort. In the 1857 sepoy mutiny, Europeans fleeing from mutineers found refuge at this fort. According to legend, the spirit of Prince Nahar haunts this fort and caused obstructions in the construction of the fort. The fort has nine apartments that were made for the nine queens of the Maharaja. Each apartment has beautiful decorations. The fort also has frescoes still in their original glory. The Nahargarh Fort is an excellent vantage point for a stunning view of the Man Lake and the environs of Jaipur and merits a visit during your trip to Jaipur.
